One Instrument, One Matrix

The Icosmo Matrix Synth brings the tools of the Icosmo Matrix together in one instrument. The clock and the keys of the present moment, the Cosmic Octave Calculator, the astro keys of any chart, a 64-step sequencer and a classic subtractive synthesizer share the same keys, the same colours and the same tempo. Every row has a ? with its own help, and every row can be folded with ▼.

Icosmo Clock: the 24-hour clock with the hands at the clock time and the sky – Sun, Moon, planets and zodiac – turned with the Midheaven at the top, so the Sun stands at the true solar time.

Icosmo Matrix: the keys and colours of the current hour, minute and second, the current hour beside the True Sun, the astro keys of the moment and the sign, element and Moon of the day.

Icosmo Mixer: faders for the hour tone, the minute tone, the second tone, the heartbeat and the astro keys – the present moment as a live drone. Sync Synth tunes the synthesizer to it.

Icosmo Oracle: the essence, energy, archetype, frequency, rhythm and tuning of the moment, read from the True Sun.

The complete Cosmic Octave Calculator inside the synth: enter a period, a frequency or a wavelength and get its tone, tuning, tempo, colour and brainwave bands. The player sounds the tone with a metronome and a heartbeat in its tempo. In the picture: the tropical year of the Earth – 136.1 Hz, C#, A4 = 432.1 Hz, 63.8 BPM.

Every key of the keyboard shows the colour of its note in the Icosmo Matrix – the light octave of its sound. Play with the mouse, by touch or with the computer keyboard; the arrow buttons above it move the range by octaves. Hold sustains the notes, Panic stops all sound, and the Pitch and Mod wheels bend and modulate the sound while you play.

A step sequencer with up to 64 steps: direction (forward, backward, ping-pong, random), rate, transpose, octave range, probability, scale and key with quantize, factory sequences and your own saved sequences. Every step has its note in its Matrix colour, accent, slide, octave and velocity.

The astro keys of the Aspect & Interval row can be sent to the sequencer with one click. With Live the sequence follows the astro keys of the present moment: they are recalculated every minute, and the place every ten minutes.

The sound engine follows the path of the sound:

• OSC 1, OSC 2 and OSC SUB – the oscillators with their waveforms and shapes.
• Mixer & Filter – the levels of the oscillators, noise and ring modulation, and a low-pass, band-pass or high-pass filter.
• Envelopes – amplitude, filter and pitch.
• FX 1 and FX 2 – unison and chorus, delay and reverb.
• LFO 1 and LFO 2 – modulation, free or in the tempo.

Factory presets and your own presets are loaded and saved at the top of the row.

Astro Matrix ID: enter a date, a time and a place, or press Now! for the present moment at your location. The panel shows the true solar time beside the clock hour and the astro keys of the chart: the hour key, the True Sun key as the root, and the harmonic and disharmonic keys of the aspects in the chosen scale. ⇥ sends them to the sequencer; Live keeps them up to date.

Aspect & Interval tables: every aspect between two planets with its angle, the musical interval it forms and the key it adds – harmonic aspects such as the trine (a major third) and the sextile (a major second), disharmonic ones such as the square (a minor third) and the opposition (the tritone).
